Skin Surgery Research Collaborative

About Us

The Skin Surgery Research Collaborative has been set up to achieve the following aims:

  1. To bring together a collaboration of medical and surgical specialties and patients representatives who are involved with or who have experience of skin cancer surgery.
  2. To determine the highest priorities for clinical research related to the surgical treatment of skin cancer and to promote and publish these to ensure funding bodies take notice.
  3. To support multi-specialty collaboration and representation for skin surgery research designed to answer the questions which are of the highest important to patients, carers and clinicians.

We are currently focusing on the first two of these aims by undertaking a Priority Setting Partnership for Skin Cancer Surgery in partnership with the James Lind Alliance. This work is supported and funded by the UK Dermatology Clinical Trials Network (UKDCTN) and the British Society for Dermatologic Surgery (BSDS). We also have support from charities including SKCIN and other professional membership bodies. To register for updates about the Priority Setting Partnership, please click here

Our research collaborative provides a bridge between specialty networks such as the UKDCTN and Reconstructive Surgical Trials Network (RSTN) so that we can work together to focus on research questions which will most improve the outcomes for patients with skin cancer.
